As of today, it's been
three years. Herschel is now Dr. Herschel, and he would like a
tenure-track job please. Alexander is now the father of two, and he's
returned to the private sector. Things are as glorious and as dubious
as they have ever been. It's time for our return.
The Glorious 2010
1. This Blog. You know you love it.
2. True/False Film Festival.
3. Teaching, as inspired by Septima Clark.
4. Stax & Volt. The whole enterprise, including all subsidiaries. Song available at the end of this post.
5. Democracy Now!
6. Blueberries in my cereal. You should try it. Really.
7. Justice Stevens and Justice Ginsburg.
8. Family. We love ours, you should too.
9. Ashton Eaton.
10. Doughnuts. Bon Appetit's 10 best.
The Dubious 2010
1. No posts on this blog for three years. That's beyond dubious. It's pathetic.
2. Academic Job Market. Bleak.
3. Obama's Nobel Peace Prize.
4. Race to the Top, a.k.a. Obama's Education Policy.
5. We are the World 25. Wasn't the earthquake disaster enough? So bad we will not provide a link.
6. 2009-2010 Pac-10 Hoops. Terrible.
7. Justice Roberts, Justice Alito, Justice Scalia, and Justice Thomas.
8. Joe Lieberman. Senator from Aetna. Bad Jew (go to 5:15).
9. Felony Disenfranchisement, a.k.a. The New Jim Crow
10. NBC Prime Time Coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Awful.
The Charmels - Please Uncle Sam (Send Back My Man) (Volt 142, 1966)
Welcome back! Blueberries on cereal are truly glorious, as was Jay-Z's refusal to participate in the dubious We are the World 25.

Only if they are fresh from summer. In winter, it's blueberry jam on yogurt on granola. All homemade, of course. Glorious.
